Pegasus Steel (USA) was founded in 2007 by President and CEO Tony Deering and its leadership team collectively offers more than 100 years of  experience in steel processing.

Tony Deering, CEO

In 1984 Tony began working as a laborer in a South African steelyard. Over a short period of time, he transitioned through many areas of operations before joining the military, where he served as an officer in the South African Airborne Forces. After leaving the military he began a small steel fabrication and supply business from the back of a pickup truck. Demonstrating an ethos of excellence from the beginning, Pegasus Steel experienced phenomenal growth and success. In 2006, Tony traveled to Charleston, South Carolina with the goal of establishing a new world-class steel fabrication business. From its humble beginnings with 10 inspired individuals, Pegasus Steel USA has grown to employ more than 160 skilled team members. He attributes this great success to 4 key ingredients: always delivering quality product, delivering on time, producing it safely, and producing it efficiently. Tony is a qualified shark diver, parachutist, and fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter pilot. He has run many marathons and taken part in some of the world’s toughest ultra-endurance events. He is married to Renee with whom he shares three beautiful children and two adorable grandchildren.

Portia Sisk, CHRO

Portia is the Chief Human Resources Officer and Vice President for Pegasus Steel. As the first employee at Pegasus Steel in May 2007, she brought years of human resource and customer service management experience to her role. She holds three degrees from Indiana Institute of Technology with Summa Cum Laude honors and has her certification as a Professional in Human Resources from the Society for Human Resource Management. Portia is active on several boards in the tri-county area, including the Greater Charleston YMCA Board of Directors where she holds the position of Chairman of the Board.

Jayme Hightower, CFO

Jayme serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Pegasus Steel. Joining Pegasus six months after its opening, Jayme has also held the positions of Controller and Vice President of Finance. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina at Aiken with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration degree. During her time off you will find her at home with her husband and four dogs. Jayme is a native of Aiken, South Carolina who loves staying active and being outdoors, traveling, and baking in her spare time.

Gregory Cote, VP of Planning & Estimating

Born in Providence, RI, Greg's background includes more than 30 years in the defense and commercial sectors. Gregory began working straight out of high school as a machinist and progressed into multiple management roles in planning, production control, and operations before relocating to South Carolina in 1995. Gregory has served as General Manager overseeing all operations for a mining and power generation company and as the Purchasing Director of a company helping to supply much-needed MRAP vehicles to the warfighters in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2013, he joined Pegasus Steel and now serves as Vice President of Planning & Estimating. In his free time, Gregory enjoys boating, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Michael Moody, Advisory Board

Michael Moody has more than 30 years of US and international senior business management experience. He came to the U.S. in 1985 from Australia and established a Los Angeles-based investment bank. Since the mid-90s, Michael has focused on business management and company turnarounds in the U.S. Michael served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of a company that provided and maintained lifesaving Buffalo and Cougar MRAP vehicles to our armed forces and allies. He has served on the Medical University of South Carolina Neuroscience Advisory Board and as a Board member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Michael currently serves as a Board member of MedTrust Holdings, Inc. He was awarded the inaugural General William C. Westmoreland Friend of West Point Award by the West Point Society of Charleston in 2011 and a Leader of Principle Award by the Citadel School of Business in 2012. Michael holds a BA (Economics and Finance) degree from Macquarie University Sydney, Australia.
