Tony Deering, CEO
In 1984 Tony began working as a laborer in a South African steelyard. Over a short period of time, he transitioned through many areas of operations before joining the military, where he served as an officer in the South African Airborne Forces. After leaving the military he began a small steel fabrication and supply business from the back of a pickup truck. Demonstrating an ethos of excellence from the beginning, Pegasus Steel experienced phenomenal growth and success. In 2006, Tony traveled to Charleston, South Carolina with the goal of establishing a new world-class steel fabrication business. From its humble beginnings with 10 inspired individuals, Pegasus Steel USA has grown to employ more than 160 skilled team members. He attributes this great success to 4 key ingredients: always delivering quality product, delivering on time, producing it safely, and producing it efficiently. Tony is a qualified shark diver, parachutist, and fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter pilot. He has run many marathons and taken part in some of the world’s toughest ultra-endurance events.
